Golf

Golf has been played for centuries. Some historians trace the origin of the sport to the early Roman Empire. The game that is played today started in 12th century Scotland. Here is your chance to learn the basics of the full swing and fundamentals of the short game, including putting, pitching, chipping, and bunker play, along with basic etiquette and rules of the game. Campers travel off campus to Poxabogue Golf Course.

 

Pony Club

Experience firsthand the joys and responsibilities of caring for a pony. This major includes a lesson each day and other pony-related activities. Campers are evaluated and placed in groups by riding level, enabling them to progress in the program. Campers learn about pony care, safety precautions, care of tack and equipment, and riding skills in a fun atmosphere. At the end of the session, campers demonstrate their skills with an “in-house” Horse Show. This program is designed to meet the needs of young equestrians who want to learn all about ponies and have fun in the process. Campers will travel off-campus to Topping Riding Club in Sagaponack. 

 

Sailing

Under the guidance of licensed captains and certified instructors, campers experience the joy and challenge of sailing on the bays and inlets of the South Fork. In addition to the skills needed to pilot a 23' keelboat, campers learn the terminology used to communicate on board. Marine safety is a key component of the major. Each camper gets an opportunity to try all aspects of sailing, from navigation and knot tying to docking and mooring. Location: Sag Harbor Sailing School, 59 Pineneck Ave., Sag Harbor, NY.

This major requires campers be at least 8 years old.

A Ross rashguard (swim shirt) must be purchased and worn for this major. Fee: $25 (automatically applied).

All campers in this major must pass a swim test.

 

Surfing

Hang ten this summer! Campers learn the fundamentals of surfing, advanced surfing skills, paddleboarding, and water safety. They also learn about the ocean’s tides, riptides, currents, and undertow and gain an appreciation for the power of the Atlantic Ocean waves. Our surfing coaches provide individualized instruction. Primary surfing location: Mecox Beach.

This major requires campers be at least 8 years old.

Water Adventurers

Immerse yourself in a morning of maritime adventure! Campers learn to wakeboard, water ski, wakesurf, kneeboard, wakeskate, and more. Under the guidance of USCG-licensed, First Aid/CPR-certified captains/coaches, campers safely learn the basics and then progress in their chosen sport. Being towed behind state-of-the-art wakeboard/water ski boats will be the highlight of the summer!

This major requires campers be at least 8 years old.
